IRLI successfully represented a United States citizen in filing a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices against his former employer for citizenship status discrimination and retaliation for asserting rights protected under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b. Mr. Tavares was fired when he complained that his employer was employing illegal aliens. As part of the settlement, the employer agreed to join the federal government’s E-Verify program to verify the employment eligibility of future employees.
