IRLI Sues Obama Administration for Records Concerning Illegal Alien Crime Rates

(Washington, D.C.) – On behalf of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Mr. Don Rosenberg, an American citizen whose son was killed in 2010 by an illegal alien, the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) announced today that it has filed a lawsuit (complaint attached here) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking records from the Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning illegal alien crime rates (Federation for American Immigration Reform v. Federal Bureau of Investigation, et al., Civil No.1:16-cv- 02180). The records being sought span three separate DOJ components, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Prisons, and the Bureau of Justice Assistance, each of which has unlawfully stonewalled FAIR’s requests.

As part of its ongoing effort to educate the American public about the Obama Administration’s continued usurpation of our immigration laws, FAIR has requested numerous categories of documents related to DOJ’s data-collection activities, specifically in relation to illegal-alien crime. FAIR submitted its requests to DOJ after fellow advocate Don Rosenberg found certain statistical irregularities produced in a government report whose source-data was supplied by DOJ. That report, published in 2011 by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), attributed, at a minimum, over 20,000 killings of U.S. citizens and lawful residents to illegal aliens. Mr. Rosenberg’s research indicates the figures are far higher. By obtaining raw data which DOJ apparently refuses to release on its own, Mr. Rosenberg hopes he can provide a complete picture of the avoidable tragedies faced by so many nation-wide.

IRLI Executive Director, Dale L. Wilcox, commented, “The records we expect to receive in response to our suit we hope will raise public awareness regarding President Obama’s no-borders policies and the burden placed on American families, like the Rosenbergs, families who’ve been forced to deal with the loss of a loved one.” Wilcox continued, “Every crime illegal aliens commit in the U.S. was potentially preventable if the illegal alien had been identified, apprehended, and removed before they victimized anyone.”
