WASHINGTON—The following is a statement for attribution by Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of the Immigration Reform Law Institute:
“Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated in his rulings a reverence for the Constitution and a belief that America must be a sovereign nation with immigration laws that safeguard its citizens first. Senators would do well to check their partisan politics at the door and simply ask whether this nominee can interpret the law fairly and wisely. Judge Kavanaugh’s body of work shows that he easily meets that standard.
“As he did with Justice Gorsuch, President Trump has again delivered on his promise to select Supreme Court justices who interpret laws, not make them from the bench. The President made a smart decision in choosing Judge Kavanaugh to succeed Anthony Kennedy.
“Judge Kavanaugh has shown wisdom in past rulings on one of our nation’s biggest challenges, immigration. He has sided with U.S. citizens and American manufacturers, farmers, and ranchers in cases where American jobs were threatened by cheap labor, union elections were undermined by illegal alien voting, and foreign competition had the potential to harm American businesses. As vexing immigration questions are sure to arrive at the Supreme Court, there is reason to believe Judge Kavanaugh will safeguard American workers and sovereignty.”
